Today's Lesson is in the Eastern Conference between the Pacers and the Heat and what the Pacers know and making the Heat make adjustments without the services of their perennial All-Star Power Forward Chris Bosh.

Last Night the Heat get only 3 points and 8 rebounds from back up PF/C'c Joel Anthony and Ronnie Turiaf. Then they shoot 1-16 from the Arc. All this is stems from the Pacers trying to make Bosh's Back ups beat them and get the ball out of king James and Wade County hands to either make the shot or the play.

Pacers Playbook vs the Heat's Offense:

The Heat run a lot of ISO's and Pick and Rolls in the Logo when you have dominant players you want that player or those players getting multiple touches on every possession.  What the Heat do is run Pick and Rolls with Wade County or King James as the PRIMARY Ball Handlers and the Screener is Chris Bosh.

Now what the Pacers were doing is one of two things on the Pick and Roll:

Bosh's Defender Shows Hard or they Trap the Ball Handler and make Wade or James give the ball up.

Now when Bosh gets the ball he either has an open look , takes it to the Rim via the bounce, or that 3rd Pacers Defender leaves his man (which is a Heat Shooter like Chalmers, Battier, Jones, or Miller) to defend Bosh and the Shooter get a Open Money Ball.

The Heat last night without Bosh had Turiaf or Joel Anthony on the majority of the screens and they are not capable of doing what Bosh does...Shoot it, get to the Rim off the bounce, or the Pacers defender is not leaving the 3rd Option (the Shooter), and making the Heat Bigs make a play.

What the Heat have to do to counter what the Pacers are doing defensively is put a Shooter on the Pick  and Roll like Battier, Miller, or Jones to make the Pacers pay for doubling Wade or James.

Also the Heat to negate what is happening in the Half-Court Set is simply to get out in Transition and get easy baskets or get the Pacers in the Penalty attacking the Rim.

One thing is for certain the Heat Shooters have to start knocking down Shots or the Heat could be in Deep Trouble.
