I, THE BLUEDUDE, have been waiting for almost 2 and a half months for the news of the #1 greatest NFL PLAYER OF ALL-TIME..........AND THE WINNER IS............................#80 JERRY RICE in somewhat of a shock because I had SYRACUSE ORANGEMAN and CLEVELAND BROWN JIM BROWN as the #1 overall player.

What a list and you can argue all over the list about this player and this other player but it was some of the names left off that surprised me like......... BUCCANEERS DT WARREN SAPP.....WHERE IN THE HELL IS HE?............EAGLES AND VIKINGS WR CHRIS CARTER WHERE IN THE YOU KNOW WHAT IS HE?........

NOW lets check out the TOP 20 PLAYERS IN ORDER from #1-#20

1. JERRY RICE- MISSISSIPPI VALLEY STATE-SF 49ERS-I know he played for 3 other teams but made his name and won rings with the GOLD RUSH. Just a fabulous Talent who wasn't the fastest guy on the field or most physically gifted...........JUST A FOOTBALL PLAYER.......came from a small school in the SWAC where he broke all the records and holds a lot of NFL Records including the most coveted TD's of all-time

2. JIM BROWN-SYRACUSE-CLEVELAND BROWNS- A one man wrecking crew the last one to get up from a pile and the first one to enter a pile. The Best FOOTBALL PLAYER THE BLUEDUDE has ever seen period........An ALL-AMERICAN at SYRACUSE in Football and Lacrosse... no doubt a member of the 1964 CLEVELAND BROWN World Championship Team. No three men could tackle him at once it had to be 12 or more.

3. LAWRENCE TAYLOR-UNC CHAPEL HILL-NY GIANTS-Just a man possessed coming off the end. The best NFL Defensive Player I have ever seen since MEAN JOE GREENE of the STEELERS. Offenses used to lineup and say where is #56 we have to account for him. There are some great LINEBACKERS on this list of the 100 Greatest but no one Linebacker can touch the ORIGINAL LT.

4. JOE MONTANA-NOTRE DAME-SF 49ERS-imagine that ....2 of EDDIE DEBARTOLO JR's Boys in the top 5 all-time shows you how dominant and talented those NINERS teams were. Montana was almost a lock if you gave him the last possession with his team own an about a minute to go ..........only good things were going to happen. And #16 had #80 on the other end for most of those drives.

5. WALTER PAYTON-JACKSON STATE-CHICAGO BEARS- If you look up graceful in the dictionary a picture of "SWEETNESS" would be in there. He would run over you n not around you even if he could go around you. He and JERRY RICE were also known for their workouts and their love for running hills in the off-season. Just as good as he was on the football field he was in the community. A real NFL ICON PAYTON was....and a lot of people voting this list had WALTER higher than this and rightfully so.

6. JOHNNY UNITAS-LOUISVILLE-BALTIMORE COLTS- JOHNNY U they called him. And his favorite target back then was RAYMOND BERRY who also coached the NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS at one time. he was arguably the BEST NFL QB ever. He wore those black hi-top cleats ....you seen them an if you haven't......go to clarktoys.com and click on MCFARLANE SPORTSPICKS NFL SERIES 1 legends and check it out. THE BLUEDUDE has tons of thosefigurines that stand about 6" high....good XMAS GIFTS .

7. REGGIE WHITE-TENNESSEE-EAGLES-PACKERS- The man the MYTH the legend of the 4-3 defensive end. You could not contain him if you doubled him. i thought he was part of the best 4 defensive linemn i have ever seen since the 70's STEEL CURTAIN in JEROME BROWN, CLYDE SIMMONS, REGGIE, and MIKE PITTS were flat-out awesome baby ........sorry DICKIE V. The Best DOWN DE of our time hands down. Won SUPER BOWL with GREEN BAY PACKERS

8. PEYTON MANNING-TENNESSEE-INDIANAPOLIS COLTS- Another one from old ROCKY TOP TENNESSEE......The Benchmark for TODAY"S QB's. The Perfect QB if the man upstairs were to build one. About time he is finished the career passing yard mark from MANNING should be 100k yards. And at the ripe age of 33 doesn't look like he is missing a beat. His GREATEST TARGET of ALL-TIME HOF WR to be in SYRACUSE ALUM MARVIN HARRISON.

9. DON HUTSON-ALABAMA-GREEN BAY- arguably the best wr of all-time. HUTSON was so dominant he has been credited with creating a lot of the passing routes the NFL uses now. The greatest PACKER of all-time hands down. HUTSON to this day holds about 6 NFL WR Records

10. DICK BUTKUS-ILLINOIS-CHICAGO BEARS- The Original MLB Intimidator. You see it now hands wrapped with gtape, blood all over the hands, teeth missing, helmet looks like it was dragged in the parking lot behind a car before kickoff. The consumate Professional Player. BUTKUS played 9 seasons in the NFL and Chicago Born and raised went to Chicago Vocational High School. The Bears MLB Tradtion of BUTKUS is followed by HOF MLB MIKE SINGLETARY and HOF To Be MLB BRIAN URLACHER.

WOW WHAT A LIST 7 OFFENSIVE PLAYERS AND 3 DEFENSIVE PLAYERS. They say Offense sales tickets but in the NFL I think DEFENSE sales more because everyone wants to see the big hit. You could argue the whole list and the TOP !). But most of these players will tell you just to be on this list is a blessing onto itself.
