Every good NFL team that is balanced, as far as running and passing, is hard to defense. But every offense who ha a guy who blocks, can stretch out the defense, can line up in the slot, and has the speed to get away from most Linebackers and some safeties is a real problem. That brings me to the BLUEDUDE's 2010 Top 10 Tight ends in the business. There are some good ones and the new prototype is a guy who is really a big receiver in a tight end body. All these guys have certain skill sets to each offense and a lot of offenses are based how versatile your tight end is.

The list for best Tight Ends on Sunday are:

1, VERNON " CLICK CLACK" DAVIS GOLD RUSH: " You can't coach him, you can't win with him, and we don't need him", Head Coach Mike Singletary said in a press conference after taking over for fired coach Mike Nolan. And what a difference a couple of years makes. Now one of the picked Captains of the niners, this guy is so physically gifted, blocks, gets to the safeties quicker than most receivers, and in the open field is a beast. And the only reason he is #1 on my first tier of tight ends because he is younger than the other two.

2. ANTONIO "HANDS LIKE SHOVELS" GATES DIEGO: Not slowing down at all. The Then Basketball forward at Kent State wasn't even playing football in college. With QB Phillip Rivers throwing him the rock all over the field Gates is a one on one nightmare for linebackers (faster than most) and corners and safeties (bigger and stronger than most). Gates' basketball pedigree helps him and the soon to be mentioned future 1st ballot HOF TE Tony Gonzalez who did the same at Cal Berkeley. Gates was one of the first Tight ends to be used at wideout and the slot exclusively in NFL Group Packages. So goes Gates, so goes the BOLTS and Rivers.

3. DALLAS CLARK CIRCLE CITY: This former IOWA HAWKEYE walk-on is also the prototype tight end. With his unique ability to get down field makes him not only a mis-match but #18 favorite target in the redzone. Clark has flourished under Ted Marchibroda system and QB PEYTON Mannings' attention to detail. One of the best trios The BLUEDUDE has ever seen was Wide outs Harrison and Wayne and TE Clark. That trio tore up the league and the ladder two are still doing it at a consistent pace.

4. JERMICHAEL " WHY YALL GIVE HIM TWO FIRST NAMES" FINLEY FROZEN TUNDRA: C'mon mama FINLEY name him jeremy or michael but you can't have both. "DING DONG" QB Aaron Rodgers your new ride is on the field. A big, physical, and hands like glue Tight End from HOOKEM' HORNS U will make the 2010 GB Packers the most prolific offense in the air this NFL season. No One can cover him and he would be higher rated on my list if he was a household name. After week 4 everybody in the NFL will know of this kid. NFL Defenses are already preparing for him. And judging from the pre-season you must come up with a different defensive scheme or you will get burned all day.

5. TONY GONZALEZ HOTLANTA: Suppose this guy was playing in a prolific offense for most of his career. The numbers would be even more astonishing. A surefire first ballot HOF Tight End, Gonzo was the next Kellen Winslow Sr. and he hasn't disappointed anyone. The Ageless One's numbers are slowing up a bit but didn't he play with Len Dawson, Steve DE berg, and Joe Montana in Kansas City. Defenses still have to be honest and cover him especially in the redzone where he is still the #1 option in the air. His basketball playing days at Cal Berkeley helped #88 hone in a unique skill set for a tight end.

6. JASON "O ROCKY TOP TENNESSEE" WITTEN BIG D: Slowing down some but never really was a burner at tight end. A very good blocker and short yardage catcher. Reminds the BLUEDUDE of former TE's Jay Novacek and Brett Jones. Just a hard-nosed blue-collar you won't out work me tight end. QB Tony Romo's BFF and main target especially in short yardage. Known for He and Romo drawing up plays in the Hotel on the road before road games so Romo can throw to him more( LOL T O that was funny S***). Will be a vital cog in cowboys' run to the Superbowl in their house.

7. ZACH MILLER SILVER&BLACK: If good ole Zach was playing for a playoff type team every year you would have heard of him by now. But playing for the raiders and seemingly a different QB every Sunday not every year, one wonders how he manages to catch that many balls a season. Then you look on the roster the raiders have Leading receiver Louis Murphy leading the wide out attack WHO? You are probably saying by now why is miller even in this mix because he is that good.

*NOTE: Raiders did get a bonafide receiver in top 10 pick Darius Heyward-Bey from the FIGHTING TURTLES in last year's draft and yes if you are reading this you have more catches than he does. But Heyward-Bey has more $$$$$$$$$$$

8. OWEN "WENT TO NAPERVILLE ILLINOIS CENTRAL HS REDHAWKS" DANIELS: Another famous alum from there is one CANDACE PARKER. Daniels was making a name for himself until an torn ACL injury . He, Andre Johnson, and Matt Schaub are a nice trio. Daniels fits in the category of Pass catcher, blocker, and redzone killer. A very athletic tight end out of UW MADISON, WILL TRY TO GET ON TRACK THIS YEAR AFTER THE INJURY AS THE TEXANS look to get over the hump and into the playoffs.

9. BRENT CELEK CITY OF BROTHERLY WHAT?: New Eagle QB K Square better find him and find him often. A Dallas Clark type who can create mismatches all over the field. Also a very good blocker who doesn't take down's off always grinding. Should put up the same type of numbers this year granted QB Kevin Kolb stays upright, goes through his progressions, and makes the right decisions.

10. HEATH MILLER TERRIBLE TOWEL NATION: A real quality tight end who is a bit of a throwback in a sense he blocks first and catches later. Real threat in short yardage passing game and BIG BEN's ability to move the pocket makes Heath more of a threat. But playing for the steelers pre BIG BEN the steelers were a run first pass second offense. So Personnel Director Kevin Colbert is just sticking to what they do in steel town. That's a mark of a good organization: 1. Have a system in place. 2. Then draft the players for that type of system. Sounds easy but i can't tell. Heath's numbers should be around the same but might fall off a little because of the suspension of BIG BEN early in the season. HEEEEEEEAAAAAAAATH

The BLUEDUDE's Top 10 list of Tight Ends has a mix of prototypes, throwbacks, and just good old blue-collar types. Make no mistake about it these guys are vital to every organization and they know it and now so do you.
